Same. It'd be one thing if a random came up and that happened. I wouldn't have thought much of it. But if my fiance then came bounding in and jump in my lap to congratulate me, I'd see that as a huge warning sign of the crazy that is to come in the marriage. Why would I legally enter a situation like that?

If this guy owed, say $20k, will the IRS accept a % of this and call it even? If so, what are the ballparks of that %, and what risks does he face? Wage garnishment? Collections? Liens?

If he was going to/was enrolling in college did it make a difference?

I've heard some of the early Prius's had eletrical/battery problems and should be avoided. I believe 2004 and earlier. Batteries die more often or something. Any insight on that?

And does MPG decline with time using hybrids the same way a 150k car won't get the original mileage? I'm at 13 years/170k miles, and I seem to have lost 5-10 MPG on a 2000 malibu.
