Jenni-Jen! Thanks for taking the time to do this today.
In the book you briefly talk about homophobia and misogyny still being an issue in hip hop today, I was wondering if you have any thoughts on why it has sort of been given a cultural pass, even among otherwise very socially conscious and progressive people, when the same content in any other genre would, even retroactively, be think pieced to death (see: millennials discovering John Lennon was an asshole?) Is this an attitude that is changing (other than "No Vaseline" playing an unavoidable part in the story, it seems like the homophobia was really minimized in Straight Outta Compton, for example) or is this something that is just always going to be part of the culture?
Also, and I'm fairly certain there is no chance you will answer this, did the gal who welded your eyes shut have an, um, 'emotional' middle name?

If it had come down to it, do you think you could have taken him in a battle?
