It's based off of your home of record's zip code, as it is a housing allowance that is based off of the cost of living in that area.
More power to you if you pull it off, but if they do find out they are probably going to do the math and take the difference out of your payments in full until they are paid back. You definitely know DFAS always gets theirs.
While I wouldn't lead with that statement, for sure your school has a Veterans Affairs coordinater somewhere on the roster that should be able to go into more detail.

The government with post 9/11 will pay for 2k semester college, and 7k semester university all the same, and as long as your full time (it stages down by credit hours), you will get paid a housing stipend equivalent to an E-5 based off of cost of living by zip code.
I get 2k a month to go to school, if I lived south 10 mi, it would be 1750. This of course with the school fees paid directly to the school at start of term. Also get a $500 book allowance at start of semester.
