I went to a community college as part of my 4-year degree. The graduation rate at the one I went to was 19%, so I don't think there's much pressure on teachers to pass students that don't earn it.

Generally speaking, CC was easier in that I wrote 5 page papers instead of 20 page papers (although there were a couple of exceptions). I took a chemistry course at my CC at the same time my wife was taking a chemistry course at a state school. There was very little difference. (Note, these were intro courses for the science requirement. I'm a film major and she's a computer science major.)
