I don't mean any offense by this and am not at all claiming to be knowledgeable on this era, but at the time black-Americans had their own, somewhat assimilated (to working class-) culture didn't they? Whereas Australian aboriginals we're in the process of official, government enforced attempts at assimilation, so I'd assume European-Australian culture would have looked down on the Aboriginal people on the basis they were 'uncultured' and uncivilised?

What I know on this is just from what I learned in school 5+ years ago, so please fill me in on the details of I'm way off.
