I was living in Japan from 2009-2012 and even the English version of the book was being widely advertised at book stores. I bought and read your book for reading during train ride commutes thinking it was a New York Times classic! It was great, thank you for filling my void during my commutes!

Japanese here. Technically gambling is illegal but online poker is allowed in the same form as pachinko. I hope we can make a bigger splash in poker. We got a second Japanese guy win a wsop bracelet this year!

Hey Phil, huge fan and you've been one of my favorite players since I started. A few questions:

  1. You play mostly during the summer and put in a huge chunk of your time playing at the WSOP. Are you considering playing in more EPT events in the future?

  2. How do you think you would do playing in more of the high roller events on the EPT tour? Vogelsang, Colman, Esfandiari from the One Drop are all regulars on the high roller circuit and I think it would be extremely interesting to see you in the mix as well.

  3. Why do you think guys like you, Seidel, Negreanu, Ivey, Cunningham have able to still compete while others have faded out?

  4. Final question. How important are some of the new theories of poker in relation to your playing style? How has new shifts toward 3,4-5 bet shoving and the balancing of ranges coming from newer poker players affected your own play style?

My favorite hand of all time is still you vs Dan Shak with the insane shove by Shak. I saw a commentary you did about that hand, but how much did having just an overwhelming chip stack going in to the final table play in to your decision? Nothing of that hand makes sense, but would love to hear you expand more about that play.
