What steps should we take as consumers to avoid being scammed?

Was the money worth it for the effort it took? Or you think you could've spend it all that time better doing something else?

Also I always have in mind that people that were upset are more likely to leave a review (negative of course) than people who were pleased with whatever service etc.

From personal experience I just catch myself writing reviews when I'm pissed or disappointed.
