I never really understood why the Gattaca future is always seen as such a negative place, genetically engineered children will just out-compete all the other ones and as soon as everyone's special no one will be, just like before.

(I know that there's potential for breeding a slave race and other bad side effects but there is always a risk for bad things happening in every future so whatever.)
