I had a wisp for a few years in the city and this was there problem. It was great when they were new and the owner was the one answering your calls, but they grew fast and speeds slowed a ton, service/support calls went unanswered. They were eventually bought by a larger company who should have been able to handle it but didn't do very well at it. Thankfully during that time we had a new isp move in delivering fiber to the home and things have been amazing ever since switching.

It's not just planes it's our modern world. Almost everything has software in it to improve the experience, add features, gain efficiency etc. Some are safety related, others are usability, efficiency is a big one, the list goes on. To suggest the modern world go back to purely an analog, mechanical nature just isn't going to happen. The 787 Max issues are more then just a software issue.

Some bands feel really strongly (Negative) about music piracy others don't mind it so much. Where do you fall?
