I think it's about weighing the pros and cons of divorce. The divorce could be an aversion from a worse situation. I wish my parents had gotten divorced but my mum said she wanted to keep the family together. I've stopped speaking to them now because of my resentment for keeping me in an abusive household until I left home at 19, which I feel has caused me a lot of grief and other problems. So yeah, there can be resentment either way!
