My issues with our Neato were similar, but a little different. The battery issue was a pain in the ass, but when it could make it back to it's charging station it wasn't a hassle.

But it wouldn't make it back to it's charging station all that regularly. It would get stuck between dining room chairs, on rug tassels, on a doorway threshold... I'd come home and it would be in the middle of the damn room with a dead battery. I'd walk it to it's charging station then in the middle of the night it would get a full battery and go back out to finish it's job (which sounds like you're getting invaded by robots in the middle of the night).

Another issue was with the canister size: I have two 70lb dogs and their hair would fill it up either before it's battery ran out or before it got stuck on the dining room chairs.

So we basically quit using it. It sits in the garage unplugged now.
