Not the OP, but I can tell you it's for exactly the same reason the intro music for cracked games was so good - it was all part of the competition against other cracking groups. You had to have good coders, musicians and gfx people.

You'd be interested in the demoscene - it grew out of the cracking scene and became its own art, focusing entirely on the demos/music/etc and not at all on the cracking part, making it entirely legal. http://www.scenemusic.net/ is a great place to start if you're interested more in the music side.

I believe that what SlavicRoots is asking is whether it was intentional that the letters looked like the word 'sad', given what it's about.
