Do you have any major geopolitical predictions for the next year/few years?

Given an open borders policy is unrealistic in the current political climate, what politically palatable immigration policies do you think would have the most positive impact? Aside from changing sheer immigration numbers, what other reform could be done?

In a separate comment you explained why you focus on the US. Are there any countries where you would not favour open borders? For instance is there a size threshold at which there would be logistical problems? Some European countries have populations of tens of thousands and could be outnumbered by immigrants within months if they adopted open borders.
