Mr. Foster isn't likely to return for this one, but I'd be interested in talking about it. I thought the abortion was played in a pretty important way- it showed that Paula was actually really distressed by having to make the decision, but more importantly, it showed how hard it was for her to seek support afterwards. The smallness of this arc itself was relatively unique and special; sometimes, it isn't a long, agonizing decision process but a small, sad realization. I'm a man, so I've never had to live that story, but I thought it was well-handled and felt realistic.
If you don't mind my asking, are you strongly opposed to abortion? Is your conflict based on your thinking the act is wrong, or that they didn't show enough of an internal struggle?
As far as persuading you to get back into the show... that episode rang a little political, but it's pretty much the only one. If you liked what came before it, you'd probably like what came after it.

While I disagree with your stance on abortion's moral implications, that makes it pretty understandable for you to feel turned off by the show. I don't imagine I'm going to persuade you to my thinking on that, but trust me that the show doesn't do anything quite that divisive again and also that they do use that arc to show some important traits about the Paula/Becs relationship.
I hope you get back into the show. Thanks for talking about it!

I had an extremely near-death experience and spent a long time after processing these feelings that I'd somehow broken the rules — that I was supposed to have died and was a ghost moving around in a living body.
What was your emotional state like after this? Did you have to grapple with any guilt or confusion about surviving?
