My only question is, "What can I do to help?"

I am disgusted by the state of the textbook situation.

I have graduated but I still have a campus presence. I am, however, in Canada. If any help is needed up North, I am happy to oblige in any way I can.

Our department got so sick of the textbook gouging that each professor wrote a chapter of a textbook and they offer it to the students on a flash drive for $20.
