I could ask the exact same fucking question in regards to capitalism. Every system has flaws, sometimes with violent consequences. You're just ignoring capitalism's and focusing on socialism's/so called communist regimes' flaws

I feel it is important that young people have life opportunities to make something of themselves, thus helping to keep them out of trouble. Of course I also support dealing with any crime in the proper way.

What about acknowledging the past and current failed attempts (all of which have clearly not really pursued socialism) while also acknowledging that we're in a different time and place, and that attempts now could have a shot?

Democratic Socialism is a thing you know, but it was crushed repeatedly by both authoritarians and capitalists and reactionaries.
