I actually also had a full colectomy just last year after being diagnosed with FAP (heh) out of nowhere. They were able to give me a J-Pouch. Are they not able to do this with you? You're about 10 years younger than I was.

EDIT: Also: your scar is vertical, while I have a vertical (C-section) scar. Do you know why they chose for this? The only reason I have a big scar (the C-section) is for the J-pouch. They said they could do the colectomy and leave a 1-2 inch scar.
