That is not true. The rewarding effects of sex are mediated through the endogenous opioid system, in particular ligands of the mu opioid receptor. It's become a trueism that dopamine is reward which arose from Roy Wise's work and interpretation of his own data on dopamine and drug addiction. More recent data suggest otherwise. Systemic naloxone blocks the formation of conditioned preferences for cues associated with sex. The role of the opioid system in sexual reward has been speculated since the 80s and 90s. Raul Paredes has recently written a good review on the topic.

Dopamine is not reward. It's important nonetheless, so let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. It's motivation. Motivation to cues associated with sex, drugs etc.

If there's one Asian beer to drink, what would it be? And what food would it go down good with?
