Yeah I feel like OP is not thinking long term with this wish to meet the recipient.

If she were to meet him, then what? Does she keep contacting the recipient and inserting herself into his life? What if he doesn’t want anymore contact with her? And when he finally passes, it’s going to feel like her son has died all over again. I just don’t see this panning out well in the long run.
