I think it is both. Disunity. Lack of leadership and lack of creativity. Here are a few examples. The democrats should not be the party of "gun-control". They should be the party of "gun-safety". They could run nation-wide ads with democrat cowboys talking about gun-safety.

"My daddy taught me as a boy about gun-safety. Don't point at what you don't intend to kill. Don't put your finger on the trigger if you don't intend to shoot. Make sure your gun is cleared when you get it and put it away. It's time to add a couple. We shouldn't sell guns without a background check. And we shouldn't sell guns to people with severe mental problems. It is common sense"

That's your ad right there. Many Republicans I know would get behind that.

Also the Democrats should not be the pro-abortion party. Here is a gimme line "I am anti-abortion. AND I am pro-choice. We can practically eliminate traumatic abortion procedures with family-planning education." Any democrat can say this in a red-state and scoot if they say when pressed "But abortions of course should be an option for health and medical emergencies, or for people who are not-prepared for the great responsibility of motherhood"

I agree with you. I think the Democrats by now should have set up a Bicameral Unity Caucus to counter Trump with weekly press conferences. Imagine 100 democrats behind a lectern and the star of the week (senator Wyden, Harris, Gillibrand, rep Swalwell etc), making a statement and pushing back against the outrage of the week with facts and data and then they all alternate taking questions and taking shots at Trump?

After Trump pulled out of Paris was a great missed opportunity. Imagine if the Democrats had immediately called a presser then. 100 democrats, 100 major CEOs, Representatives of Universities and scientists, mayors and governors, standing on the capitol hill steps with a simple message. Climate change is real. These CEOs, universites, companies, towns, cities and states will continue to uphold Paris. That would have been a major counterpunch to Trump that was lost.

The same thing could have been done when he announced a troop increase to Afghanistan. 100 Democrats on the hill steps, warning of Russia financing the taliban terrorists in Afghanistan, as General Nicholson has testified to before congress.

Basically the Democrats are getting shut up within congress. They should take their voice out on to the steps to the media and America. Yet they keep waiting for their political opponents to self-destruct and never take the initiative.

What inspired you to get into your field? Do you like your job? Do you ever wanna quit and do something else?

Senator would it be possible to invite about 500 to-be victims of the taxscam to the capitol for a presser/protest? It feels like the democrats are doing little in terms of strategy to oppose Trump and the GOP. And could do more to drive the media narrative on all fronts and drown Trump out.

I totally agree. A Democrat could run on the platform of totally eliminating abortion using sex ed and birth control. While keeping abortion legal for people who need it.
