.........then how do you propose representation be determined? Mass poll with every candidate in the state, choose your top ### candidates? Doing so, while technically the fairest, puts too much of a research requirement on the voters. Also, doing so still marginalizes those citizens who work more, as they will have less (sometimes much less) time to prepare for elections. We need districts to make it manageable for the voter. Also, in theory, a representative needs to be able to communicate with their constituents; that is nigh impossible if their constituents are the entire state, especially in states like California/Texas/Alaska/etc.

Between the war on terror, war on drugs, financial collapse, climate change, etc., I feel like our generation might be the first to be able to say when we are older that nothing worked when we grew up
