It's been said that Tolkien wrote the Middle Earth books to justify his having spent so much time creating the languages that became Quenya and Sindarin.
What was your "way in" to Watership Down? Did you want to invent rabbit words and mythology? Or was the story itself the first thing that came to you?

I loved "Too Many Cooks" so much. Though I'm a little mad at you for the 24-hour earworm and the future nightmares.
