I'm looking for a mid-range mp3 player. The market seems split between $20 iPod knock-offs on the low end and $150-$400 players on the hight end, like the new Pono.

I just want a good player that will last a few years, but doesn't have a ton of unnecessary features. Ideally, something like the iPod nano 4th generation or Sansa Clip+ in the $60-$80 range, but which is still manufactured and supported. Can you recommend anything in this middle ground? Thanks!

What kind of skills are you looking for on the team? I have a strong physics & problem-solving background, but no engineering experience whatsoever. Is there anything someone like me could help you do?
