Hey Mr. Thaler,

I just listened to the Freakonomics Podcast episode on Homo Economicus and it was fascinating. As you pointed out, it's sometimes better and sometimes worse to be harshly rational. My question is: In what normal situations should people make judgments based solely on numbers? And when should even the staunchest economists bow to emotion or social pressure?

I turned off all my extensions on chrome the other day to make sure they weren't interfering in a page I couldn't load and, while I was waiting for it to load, I checked facebook.

It's a fucking mess.
