did u go to college? if so, what did u major in? any tips for getting a job in the comic industry with no degree in the arts?

Do comic book companies discriminate hiring writers/artists based on what degree they earned? or do they look for pure talent?
I am currently in college (uofm) and have tons of ideas for comics and stories that i work on during my spare time and hope to pursue one day, but really do not see my self studying creative writing or illustration, etc. and am gravitating towards psychology..any advice would be awesome
