It's similar to Caltrain in northern California. "A pedestrian was struck by a train."

But it leads to people believing that the train corridor is unsafe. Not calling a suicide a suicide shifts the blame from poor mental health (primarily of high-stressed high school and university students) to rail safety.

The majority of that line's suicides occur in Palo Alto, home of Stanford University. An above average amount of the suicides are by Stanford students. By downplaying the issue, Stanford (and the surrounding high-stress high schools) avoid a public backlash on their inability to properly address the mental health issues of their students.

On the other hand, it's been shown that media coverage of suicides tends to increase the rate of suicide.

Spent my first ten at Jackson, also. I swear, that place goes from middle of winter to middle of summer overnight. Ha!

How long did it take you to readjust to life after getting home? I'm a fobbit pogue, but I kinda worry about some of my combat arms friends who haven't "come home" quite yet.

*1) Why won't most cabs take me from the Mission to the Outer Sunset?

*2) Why are most cab drivers talking on their phones while they take me anywhere (other than the Sunset, where I actually need to go?)

*3) Why won't cabs pick me up in the Tenderloin?

*4) Why is it that every time I take a cab all they talk about is how much they hate ridesharing services?

*5) Why don't the majority of cab drivers I've had speak intelligible English?

*6) Why are the owners of cab medallions spending a ton of money to undermine ride-sharing companies instead of bringing their own vehicle/drivers up to par?

*7) Why is it that every time I take a Lyft in San Francisco, a cab driver does something illegal and dangerous that affects my ride?
