You know, not that long ago, we all (well, those of us old enough to have lived before the mid-90s) survived pretty well without the Internet at all. It wouldn't kill people to limit their use or, yes, cut some cables (or accounts). This might sound funny coming from a guy with a handle of "nyITguy," but the fact is that our so-called "dependence" on all things "Internet" is based mostly on smoke and mirrors. Backing off is simply a matter of will, and can (and probably should) be done.

Nah, who has the time? And what good would it do anyway? It's not like we are offered choices, other than yes/no. So, my choice has been to "engage" online but limit my activity. I never post pictures, and rarely post anything of a personal nature, other than to express opinions (mostly by "liking") about topical issues.

I had to sign up for reddit to engage in this conversation. I didn't bother to read the terms for use of the site...I wonder what I just signed away?
