This is the question I came here to see. Hopefully it's answered. I'd like to know if it's possible for lower/middle/working class people to do what this person is doing, or if being affluent is a necessary condition.

Good point. At the core, I think we all want to live a life like that, so it's not wrong, but I have old friends who are doctors' kids who plaster their social media with photos of them getting a copter ride to the top of a mountain or drinking Champaign in the French Riviera and there's always some vapid and ignorant caption like "Life should always come before work" and it makes me want to throw them all into the fucking sun.

It's one of those things where it's not exclusive to the affluent but is definitely more common among that socioeconomic strata than the middle class. It's not a cheap sport, but it's not impossibly expensive like yacht racing. It's more useful for poor/middle class to do monthly payments on a nice car than hit the slopes every second weekend and buy replacement skis if they get trashed.

Just curious, what's your educational background like? You seem well spoken and fairly thoughtful. All the homeless (or houseless? I noticed you chose that term) people in my area that I've interacted with are not very good with communicating. Often times illiterate. And they more often than not have mental health concerns and intense conditions of substance abuse.
