Interesting. I lived in Inner Mongolia for about 5 years and I loved the food and diversity. I went to a restaurant called PF changs recently where I'm based now and hated the food because all of the dishes were just tooooo sweet. I know in the North of China the dishes are mainly meat based / noodles and where as in the South they are more catered towards rice and veg dishes (as far as I'm aware). Where do these sweet dishes originate from and are they popular in a specific area of China?

What types of dishes suit the local community and how are they different to authentic Chinese dishes?
