The problem with this, unfortunately, are twofold. First, pancreatic beta cells will not regenerate like muscle cells. They won't come back. The second is steroids. They drastically increase the amount of insulin needed by the body. I'm a type one diabetic and had to take a two week course of steroids for a nasty infection. My insulin needs increased by over 100%. I can't imagine it being good news for OP.

Have you ever had a student who was naturally talented on their instrument but didn't do anything with that potential? I've been and experienced kids like this. How do you feel about it, and how do you deal with it?
