How does ensure security at all? A compromised system can just say it has counted to your vote while manipulating the end result however it wants. Unless you are able to check other people's votes and calculate the result yourselves, I don't see how this makes voting any more reliable.

Sure. That part can make the voting system more reliable but getting a receipt of your vote being counted doesn't really add anything from what I can tell other than security theater.
