I grew up in Cincinnati. You have always seemed to maintain a connection with the local community. Why do you think that other artists seem to not see the importance of giving back to the community that molded them?

A friend of mine described some of your earlier work as "sneaking free jazz" into pop music. It was mostly in reference to the time signatures and interesting scales/voicings. Did the odd time signatures develop in jam sessions? or were they part of the songs by design?

I first saw you on Flight of the Conchords. Your character was so sinister and dark compared to your role on Last Man on Earth. Do you prefer darker roles?
