Why is it that a country won't let you across their border if you have a stamp from another country that it doesn't recognise? How is it any different from having a stamp from an imaginary country such as Robonia?

A quick solution could be to offer the user a choice whether they would like to update the font cache now or later, before actually running the update. It would make it far less annoying in the meantime.
