Expanding on the use of medications, I was prescribed gabapentin (300mg twice daily) for treating tingling and numbing due to spinal stenosis (L4-5). The symptoms although little less, they remain after almost a year and I am worried I will need to take them for the rest of my life which I know it is not advisable. I have tried Chiropractics, PT, injections, but it lingers along with the typical sciatica pain. In this case surgery would we indicated? Thank you!

Hello doctor, thank you for opening this AMA post. My question is, what cases would be that last resort to consider a surgery? I have spinal stenosis due to L4-L5 disc hernations.
